‘’The day I was born, my mother gave me a kiss of love on my forehead…’’
Judia, a song, a tale, a history that tells us about a young Sephardic girl and her life. Although personal and individual in its lyrical core, it carries a sentiment of a whole culture that is embroidered in the Mediterranean and the Balkans in so many ways. A quest of love, homeland, family, and identity.
The lyrics were written by poet Shoshana Karbasi, in honor of Jewish culture, history and all the sufferings this community went through. Conveying the lyrics in Ladino (judeo-español), a language that paints a very rich Sephardic culture, Judia is bringing us heartfelt stories all the way from Spain to the Balkans, from North Africa to the Middle East.
Vocal: Tamara Jokic
Bass: Per Krstajic
Sound engineering and video editing: Nikola Stajić
This performance is a cover song of Mor Karbasi.
