The Cut Up Method is an important tool for the artist.

and the reason is; when you only rely on what you know, you’ll never find what you dont know -

I think the true purpose of art and the job of the artist is to uncover those hidden places- to search for something new.

but along the road, you can start making decisions in your work that get clouded by what you already know- your limits, your ability, and what your own experience says you can or cant do.

recording the strings on this new song, made me realize how my pure obsession and the intense joy of making music clouds my own opinion of can or cant. the truth is, I never would of tried if i stopped to think about how I’ve never done it before- or if i reminded myself that I have no idea how to compose and arrange an orchestra. or even mic a violin. i just did it.

But thats why the cut up method is so important. because it removes what you think you should do - and takes your own judgement of yourself out of the question.
