This silent, amateur shot home movie footage contains daytime and nighttime scenes of Los Angeles and dates to the late 1930s. It begins 00:00 with sweeping panoramas of the city, likely shot from the Hollywood hills. At 5:01, rain slicked city streets, followed by shots of the neon signs of Herald Examiner building at 5:22, the Helms Bakery in Culver City 5:37, and at 5:51 is a sign for a bank advertising a "timeplan" for savings. At 6:00, the neon sign of the Wiltern Theatre on Wilshire Blvd. advertising the Man Who Cried Wolf (released 1937). At 6:06, another shot of the Helms signage; at 6:40 another shot of the Herald Examiner signage. At 6:58 a neon advertising dentist Dr. O.L. Stone and at 7:09 the Owl Drug Co. At 7:55, another theater marquee advertises In Old Chicago (released 1938). At 7:57, a sign for B.W. Tye Realtors, followed by the Gilmore Oil lion, Gilmore. At 8:30, Zinke's jewelers. At 11:00, Maurice Ball Quality Furs. At 12:22 the Owl Drug Co. At 13:09, Loew's State Theater in downtown Los Angeles. At 14:09 the Palace Theater. At 15:19, Loew's Theater advertising "Mannequin" with Joan Crawford (released 1937). At 15:54, the Warner Bros. Downtown theater.
