Fishtail Illusion Braid (Mermaid Braid) Hairstyle Tutorial

A cute and unique side braid hairstyle using fishtail braids!

In this hair tutorial, we have taken 2 side fishtail braids and pinned them together with bobby pins, creating a double braid which looks like one thick single braid. If you look closely, you can see a reverse fishtail (or dutch fishtail) running down the middle! This creation is a spin off of the "Illusion braid ponytail" which is also known online as a "mermaid braid" (named by the lovely Bebexo.) If you prefer to not use bobby pins, you could lace the braids together with ribbon, or even a strand of your own hair.

The strands along the edges of the braid can be stretched as much or as little as you want. If you are wanting more of a messy, bohemian braid, I would suggest stretching them more.
