The Amareshwar Mahadev Temple, situated on the route to Ranthambore National Park and approximately 7 km from the railway station, is renowned as one of the oldest Shiva temples. Nestled amid towering hills, this temple holds immense sacred value. It stands as a significant religious site near Sawai Madhopur, surrounded by picturesque green hills.

Dating back around 1200 years, similar in age to the Ranthambore Fort, the temple was discovered several hundred years ago. Initially, reaching the temple was a challenge due to the dense forest surrounding it. Even today, one needs to walk or drive for about a kilometer through the forest via the Ranthambore road, although a man-made path has been established. The festival of Shivaratri witnesses a fair during the day and a night-long vigil (Jagaran), drawing numerous devotees paying their respects to the deity.

Beyond its religious and historical importance, the temple has become a favored spot for picnics among Sawai Madhopur residents, especially during the rainy season, with its captivating waterfall, stream, and lovely groves nearby. There are segregated bathing areas for men and women. The temple's surroundings, brimming with natural beauty, attract tourists seeking solace amidst nature's charm.

आमरेश्वर महादेव मंदिर, जो रांथम्बोर नेशनल पार्क के मार्ग पर स्थित है और रेलवे स्टेशन से लगभग 7 किमी दूर है, एक प्राचीन शिव मंदिर के रूप में प्रसिद्ध है। ऊँचे पहाड़ों के बीच स्थित यह मंदिर बहुत ही पवित्र माना जाता है। यह सवाई माधोपुर के पास एक महत्वपूर्ण धार्मिक स्थल के रूप में खड़ा है, जिसे हरी-भरी पहाड़ियों से घिरा हुआ माना जाता है।

1200 वर्ष पुराना, रांथम्बोर किले के तुलनात्मक उम्र में, यह मंदिर कई सैंतरी वर्षों पहले खोजा गया था। पहले, मंदिर तक पहुंचना घने जंगल के कारण एक चुनौती थी। आज भी, रांथम्बोर रोड के माध्यम से एक किलोमीटर तक जंगल से चलकर जाना आवश्यक होता है, हालांकि एक मानव बनाया मार्ग बना दिया गया है। शिवरात्रि के दिन मेला और पूजा की रात में जागरण का आयोजन किया जाता है, जिससे अनगिनत भक्त ईश्वर की पूजा करते हैं।

इसके धार्मिक और ऐतिहासिक महत्त्व के अलावा, यह मंदिर सवाई माधोपुर के निवासियों के बीच एक पसंदीदा पिकनिक स्थल बन गया है, विशेष रूप से बरसात के मौसम में, जहां चारों ओर छायादार झरने, नाले, और सुंदर बगीचे हैं। यहां पुरुषों और महिलाओं के लिए अलग-अलग स्नान क्षेत्र हैं। मंदिर के आस-पास की प्राकृतिक सौंदर्य से भरी वातावरण के कैशिंग बारिश, धारा, और प्यारे बगीचे के साथ ख़ास कर बरसाती मौसम में सवाई माधोपुर के निवासियों के लिए अग्रिम स्थान बन गया है।
