Motor torque runs 16Nm at 24V – I could imagine you would be able to run this motor at 72V for short periods to run it with a significant amount of strength and speed – might test this out in a future video.

The traces on the motor driver board seriously need upgrading as shown, the driver board is rated for 15A but the traces as they come only appear to be suitable for about 5A. This needs to be done on both the positive and negative rails. Alternately you could just buy an expensive drive.

The resistor has to be sized very specifically for running the motor backwards in this setup. If you have the resistance value too small you will risk blowing the drive as it will allow too much current through the integral diodes in the FETs when transitioning from full speed to stopped due drum inertia etc. These drives are not intended to be run like this. If the resistance is too high, the regeneration voltage will be high enough to activate the drive and make the drive try to power the door back up, due to the set direction on the jumper.

The winch is quiet, however a sinewave style drive would eliminate the audible commutation noise.

A lot of the remote control switches on the net have a poor quality linear regulator power supply, I was going to include this detail on this video, but it was getting too boring. When buying a remote switch preferentially purchase one with a switchmode supply – I will include links when I get a min to find them.
