In algebra, teachers tell you how to solve a system of 2 simultaneous equations with 2 unknowns. In linear algebra, we enter the realm of an n by n system of equations, and begin to see pictures of how we can interpret them - through the row and column picture. In fact, the n by n system of equations is simply a matrix equation, condensed into a coefficient matrix, unknown vector, and RHS result vector.
Moreover, the row and column picture connect with matrix multiplication, giving us two ways to perform and interpret matrix multiplication.
