The Last Solitude: Gila Wilderness | ¡COLORES! NMPBS

The Last Solitude looks at the history of the Gila Wilderness area, beginning with the Mogollon civilization; Apache occupation of the territory; the arrival of the Spanish colonists; and conservation efforts by Aldo Leopold and Clinton Anderson. This program also examines the Gila's natural environment, including old growth forests, wildlife and the impact that humanity has had on the wilderness area over recent years.
