After 42 years in IT, I’m finally being honest with myself: I probably have 10–15 good years left to seriously chase my photography dreams.
In this video, I walk through my late-life photography plan as a retiree. I’ll share how I’m thinking about time, fitness, travel, and how my IT background actually helps me as a landscape and wildlife photographer.
What I cover in this video:
• Why the idea of “10–15 years left” pushed me to make a real plan
• How my 42-year IT career prepared me for photography (instead of holding me back)
• The reality of age, fitness, and carrying camera gear on hikes
• How I’m planning and prioritizing big photography trips in retirement
• My personal photography bucket list for the next 10–15 years

My photography bucket list:
• Patagonia – dramatic mountains and wild weather
• Lofoten, Norway – winter light and coastal landscapes
• Scottish Highlands – moody, historic landscapes
• Greenland – ice, scale, and remote adventure
If you’re retired (or getting close) and love photography, I’d really like to hear from you:
• How many “good years” do you think you have left to travel and shoot?
• What’s one place on your own photography bucket list?
Share your thoughts in the comments so we can encourage each other and maybe borrow a few ideas.
