◆Horikawa-dori
Horikawa-dori (Horikawa-dori [1]) is one of the main north-south streets of Kyoto City. It corresponds to Horikawa alley in Heiankyo. There are Horikawa-dori and Nishi-Horikawa-dori across Horikawa in some sections, but usually Nishi-Horikawa-dori is called Horikawa-dori.


★ Current situation
From the Kamo Kaido on the Kamogawa embankment in the north, it joins Aburanokoji-dori, which ran straight east at the intersection of the Tokaido main line in the south. Although it continues as a highway, the south is given a different name from Aburanokoji-dori. A four-lane arterial road north of Horikawa Shimei, and a spacious six-lane arterial road with a wide median strip from Horikawa Shimei to Horikawa Imadegawa. Horikawa From Imadegawa to Horikawa Oike, Horikawa is a bright section as described later, and Horikawa-dori is lined up. Horikawa, which became an underdrain from Oike, also became a road, swinging slightly east at Horikawa Gojo to join Samegai-dori, folding east at the key hand at Nishi Honganji North, and Horikawa deviating to the west with the underdrain at Horikawa Nanajo. Horikawa-dori joins Yukoji-dori, which is a straight eastern street north of the Tokaido main line. The name of the street south of the confluence is "Aburanokoji-dori".
South of Shichijo, Nishi-Horikawa-dori, which has less traffic, is one block away from Horikawa-dori and passes over the culverted Horikawa.
South of Horikawa Gojo is also National Highway No. 1.

★ History
In the old days, Higashi-Horikawa-dori, Kawa-no-Horikawa, and Nishi-Horikawa-dori were about the same width. Nishihorikawa-dori became a wide street as it is now because the houses along the road were forcibly evacuated as a firebreak during World War II. After the opening of the Kyoto Electric Railway, the Kyoto City Electric Railway Horikawa Line (commonly known as the Kitano Line, N-Den) ran on the narrow Horikawa-dori from Horikawa Nakadachiuri to Shijohorikawa until it was abolished in 1961 (Showa 36). ..

★ Horikawa
Horikawa as a river is above the ground in the section from Imadegawa-dori to Oike-dori, but most of it is an underdrain. Currently, the flow rate is low, but it was once used for dyeing Kyo-Yuzen.


◆ Seimei Shrine
Seimei Shrine is a shrine located in Seimei-cho, Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto. Enshrines Seimei Abe. Settled at the site of Seimei's mansion at the foot of the Ichijomodo Bridge (northwest). There are shrines with the same name all over the country. The old shrine is a village shrine.

◆堀川通
堀川通（ほりかわどおり[1]）は京都市の主要な南北の通りの一つ。平安京の堀川小路にあたる。一部区間には堀川を挟んで、東堀川通と西堀川通があるが、通常は西堀川通を堀川通と呼ぶ。

★現状
北は鴨川堤の加茂街道から南は東海道本線交差部北で一筋東を走っていた油小路通に合流する。幹線道路としては一続きながら、南は油小路通と別の名前をつける。 堀川紫明以北は4車線の幹線道路、堀川紫明から堀川今出川までは中央分離帯の幅も広いゆったりとした6車線の幹線道路。 堀川今出川から堀川御池は後述の通り堀川が明り区間で、東西堀川通が並び残っている。 御池から暗渠になった堀川の上も道路となり、堀川五条でやや東に振れて醒ヶ井通を合わせ、西本願寺北で鍵の手に東に折れ、堀川七条で暗渠のまま堀川は西に逸れ、堀川通は東海道本線北で一筋東の通りである油小路通に合流する。合流点以南の通りの名称は「油小路通」である。
七条以南では交通量の少ない西堀川通が堀川通と一区画離れて、暗渠となった堀川の上を通っている。
堀川五条以南は国道1号でもある。

★歴史
昔は東堀川通、川の堀川、西堀川通は同程度の幅であった。西堀川通は第二次世界大戦時に防火帯として沿道の家屋が強制疎開させられたため、現在ある広い通りになった。 京都電気鉄道が開通させた後の京都市電堀川線（通称北野線、N電）は、1961年（昭和36年）に廃止になるまで狭い東堀川通を堀川中立売から四条堀川まで走っていた。

★堀川
河川としての堀川は今出川通から御池通までの区間は地上に出ているが大部分は暗渠である。 現在は流量が少ないが、かつては京友禅の染色に利用されていた。


◆晴明神社
晴明神社（せいめいじんじゃ）は、京都市上京区晴明町にある神社。安倍晴明を祀る。一条戻橋のたもと（北西）にあった晴明の屋敷跡に鎮座する。全国各地に同名の神社が存在する。旧社格は村社。
