Ambewela is a small town in Nuwara Eliya district popularly known for its 2 dairy farms called “Ambewela Farm” and “New Zealand Farm”. The wide grasslands of Ambewela lie 6,064 ft (1,848 m) above sea level. The maximum temperature of this area is about 23° C and the lowest goes down to about 9° C.

The farm spans over 1500 acres of green pastures spreading as far as the eye can see dotted with brown/black and white cows twice the size of the average cow in Sri Lanka. Ambewela Farm and New Zealand Farm raise Ayrshire cattle and Friesian cows respectively. At one point you will pass a row of massive wind turbines lying along the horizon.
Once you come close to the visitor site you will be teleported into a remote town of England. Not only do the weather and environment look totally alien to Sri Lanka, but the little English-styled cottages of the staff, meadows covered in important grass and European cows complete this transformation of the landscape into a little English town.
