After narrowly escaping a military raid on his home, opposition leader Bobi Wine is now facing escalating threats from the top of Uganda’s military hierarchy. The Commander of the Defence Forces—President Museveni’s son—has publicly ordered Bobi Wine to surrender to the military, warning that failure to comply would result in him being treated as an outlaw and a rebel.
This move comes in the wake of police claims that Bobi Wine was under no threat and still at home—claims that have now been exposed as false. With authorities unable to locate him and reportedly fearful of his ability to command national protests from an undisclosed location, the military has intensified its efforts to bring him in.
Bobi Wine, however, has met these threats with resolute defiance. In a statement that underscores his determination, he declared, “I will resurface when I decide.” His stance not only highlights the ongoing political tension in Uganda but also positions him as a symbol of resistance in the face of intimidation.
