Last time I made a cassette tape data decoder. This time we are making a data encoder that takes digital data and converts it to an audio signal that can be recorded on cassette tape using Kansas City Standard protocol.
Got tripped up a bit by the need to synchronize an incoming data signal which is in UART format with the counter that times the encoding process. A 555 timer in bistable mode is used as an S-R latch to start the counter (cd4017) to count out the data bits precisely when the start bit happens.
All my experiments with this are shown and complete schematic is given. Hope you guys enjoy the nostalgia.
