S. 2 Ep. 3 What I would do Differently & The BIG Dig

Garden Bed: 97ft x 34ft

What I would do differently:
Year 1 - Select your garden spot after observing all seasons for 1 year (Must Have a soil test done - know your soil type / sun all day / have good drainage (not on a slope or divot) ... check! all these were done before we even started filming on this garden plot - my parents were the observes of their space since they live there, and it is their garden. Yes they do live in a 100 Year Flood Zone. They knew this. It did Flood (as you saw in previous videos), but now it won't flood for another 100 years. Bonus! (and fingers crossed)

Year 2 - Square out your garden space / use wire to outline with T-post on 4 corners - Dig a Trench - After a Rain comes - Black Tarp the whole Garden Growing Area - After 8 months at least - and all the weeds have been killed ... twice - Remove Tarps - Seed Winter Cover Crop (aka do all perimeter digging before tarps and in the 1st year!!) :) ... watch the videos on removing tarps/ breaking up the soil / seeding winer cover crop to help. They go more in depth and will help you achieve a weed free garden for when you grow your own food. Oh & plant Garlic if you want :)

Year 3 - Design / Plant your Garden

This video we all worked together. My Momma, my Papa, and I had a Trench Shovel my Momma a mini spade shovel (trench was about 4in wide and my Papa with the wire and the edger. Good times. We wore ourselves out. But we will keep out the critters and keep out the quack grass. We only have to do it once and it was all worth it. So great to have help :)
