"It was written for a lady, probably in '85. It was a very brief, very romantic situation. The nature of that relationship felt to me like an old Gordon Lightfoot song like 'Softly She Comes.' Gordon wrote a lot of that stuff: great, mysterious, women would show up in the middle of the night and disappear. Lightfoot is one of my greatest influences. I admire his songwriting. I said 'I ought to write a song that sounds like Gordon Lightfoot.' Melodically and lyrically this is a tribute to Lightfoot." (Dan Fogelberg)

*This video is inspired by the message to Dan Fans from Mariaglenn (nick name River) when watching their remarkable video "Dan Fogelberg ~ Whispers In the Wind" produced by Beggarsgame (Donna) and Mariaglenn. I felt blessed to have known them over the years being part of a lovely group where we used to share Dan's music and videos. We all joined YT back in 2008, and I had the opportunity to co-produced two successful videos "Don't Let That Sun Go Down" & "Sweet Magnolia (And the Traveling Salesman)" with River, she has great visions/tastes selecting beautiful images for me to use. As always, I tried very hard capturing the imagery beauty of romantic longing hidden in Dan's lyrics, this one I focus on drawing the felt of the mysterious woman "softly she comes" from the foggy shore in the middle of the night then "softly she disappear" to the foggy shore in the early morning. Hope you can see that storyline. Finally, I would like to dedicate this one to both Donna & River, thank you for your inspiration and friendship! Having uploaded 200+ videos, mostly for all Dan's Fans, I have covered most Dan's Greatest Hits, from his first album "Home Free" to his last album "Love in Time". I have come to my "Full Circle" stage, it's about time to pass the torch to someone young and visionary to carry Dan's legacy ever on. Dan truly is a magnificent singer/songwriter, he wrote the music of our life! It has been my honor to have accomplished these tribute videos in memory of him.... and I appreciate all who took the time to watch and listen... together, let's keep Dan's legacy ever on... from JMEagle101 (a.k.a.
