Inauguration of New DRM Building at Howrah: A Step into the Future

As Howrah Division proudly enters its centenary year, a new chapter unfolds with the inauguration of the newly constructed Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Office Building near Railway Museum, Howrah. Hon’ble General Manager, Eastern Railway, along with madam, will inaugurate the state-of-the-art facility this evening, marking a historic transition from a century-old heritage structure to a modern, secure, and tech-enabled workplace.
Established in 1925 under the erstwhile East Indian Railway, the DRM Office at Howrah has stood as a symbol of excellence, operational control, and administrative leadership for 100 years. However, age and structural concerns—including cracks from nearby metro construction, water seepage, outdated electrical layouts, and safety risks—necessitated a shift to a safer and more efficient environment.

The foundation stone for the new office was laid in 2016, with a vision to create a facility that reflects the dynamic pace of modern Indian Railways.
