A Table Saw Injury Story - Learn From My Mistakes

First off, Always use safety equipment and most importantly keep your head in the game when using power tools of any sort, Especially a Table Saw! Table Saws account for quite a few Injuries in the home shop! Ask me how I know

I went to do a small re-saw cut on the table saw the other night, I had been behind in the shop so I was out there later than normal. I Have the push stick that came with the saw but I wanted something a little thicker to have more support, So I grabbed a piece of oak that had a little taper to it. Heck I thought it would work perfectly, My first mistake.

My second mistake was a split second lack of attention that led to the push stick sliding off the work piece and onto the blade that caused a horrendous kick back situation. The push stick shot back and hit me in the inner wrist and knocked a good size chunk of skin back and left a pretty good laceration.

It all happened in a split second and before I knew what had happened I saw the blood on the floor.
Needless to say I made it to the ER and all that was needed was 17 stitches, I thought that I would be having hand surgery for sure.

Anyway, the moral of this story is Keep you head in the game and stay Safe!!
