Day 3 - British Sector.

Longues sur Mer German Battery, Ranville Cemeteries, Pegasus bridge, Sword Beach, Juno Beach & British Normandy Memorial.

Some of the British sites we did in September so didn't re-visit them. The two cemeteries at Ranville are well worth a visit, one side is the military cemetery and next is the local cemetery that has British, French and a German grave from the D-Day invasion battle. Pegasus bridge was busy as expected. The beaches were relatively quiet and there are lots of places to eat and drink on the coast. The relatively new British Normandy Memorial is also a must and the only lace we paid for parking on the whole trip (money goes into the memorial).

We stayed at Camping des Bords de l'Aure, which is where we stayed in September. It cost 150 Euros for 5 days between 4 of us. They gave us 2 pitches instead of the 1 we had booked.

The trip was planned at the end of last year when we returned from a similar trip in September. The plan is to catch the Portsmouth to Caen ferry and camp in Bayeux. From there we will visit the D-Day sites and on 6th June (D-Day) we will got to Gold beach - Arromanche, where the main British landings were in 1944.
