Mauritius honors Indian PM with highest civilian award

Mauritius honored Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday with its highest civilian award during the island nation's National Day celebrations.

The award was conferred by Mauritius President Dharam Gokhool.

People stood in the rain as contingents and members of Mauritius' armed forces marched in formation and performed acrobatic drills.

New Delhi counts as one of the major trading partners for Port Louis with trade alone booming by 132% in the last 17 years, from 206.76 million US dollars in 2005-06 to 554.19 million US dollars in 2022-23.
