Subaru Rally RE-EVOLUTION 2005 - 1995

Zwischen 1995 und 2005 erlebte das Subaru World Rally Team (SWRT) seine erfolgreichste Zeit in der World Rally Championship (WRC), vor allem durch den legendären Subaru Impreza WRX. Mit symmetrischem Allradantrieb und Boxermotor setzte der Impreza neue Maßstäbe im Rallyesport. 1995 gewann Colin McRae die Fahrer-Weltmeisterschaft im Impreza 555, was Subaru auch den ersten Hersteller-Titel einbrachte.

Ab 1997 wurde der Impreza in der WRC in einer neueren Version als Impreza WRC eingesetzt, die sich durch aerodynamische Verbesserungen auszeichnete.

2001 führte Subaru das erste überarbeitete Modell des Impreza ein, bekannt als “BugEye” wegen seiner charakteristischen, runden Frontscheinwerfer. In diesem Modell gewann Richard Burns 2001 die Fahrer-Weltmeisterschaft. Der BugEye brachte nicht nur optische Veränderungen, sondern auch technische Updates in Bereichen wie Fahrwerk und Gewichtsverteilung.

2003 kam eine weitere Überarbeitung: der “BlobEye”-Impreza. Diese Version besaß schmalere, aggressiver wirkende Scheinwerfer und verbesserte die Aerodynamik des Fahrzeugs. In diesem Modell holte Petter Solberg 2003 die Fahrer-Weltmeisterschaft, und der BlobEye etablierte sich als eines der besten Rallyefahrzeuge seiner Zeit.

Bis 2005 blieb Subaru dank kontinuierlicher Verbesserungen an Fahrzeugen wie dem Impreza 555, BugEye und BlobEye sowie der Zusammenarbeit mit Top-Fahrern wie McRae, Burns und Solberg eines der erfolgreichsten Teams in der WRC.

Between 1995 and 2005, the Subaru World Rally Team (SWRT) experienced its most successful period in the World Rally Championship (WRC), primarily through the legendary Subaru Impreza WRX. With its symmetrical all-wheel drive and boxer engine, the Impreza set new standards in rallying. In 1995, Colin McRae won the driver’s world championship in the Impreza 555, which also secured Subaru its first manufacturers’ title.

Starting in 1997, the Impreza was introduced in the WRC in a newer version, known as the Impreza WRC, featuring aerodynamic improvements.

In 2001, Subaru introduced the first revised version of the Impreza, known as the “BugEye” due to its distinctive round headlights. In this model, Richard Burns won the driver’s world championship in 2001. The BugEye brought not only visual changes but also technical upgrades in areas like the suspension and weight distribution.

In 2003, another update followed: the “BlobEye” Impreza. This version had narrower, more aggressive-looking headlights and improved the car’s aerodynamics. In this model, Petter Solberg won the driver’s world championship in 2003, and the BlobEye established itself as one of the best rally cars of its era.

By 2005, Subaru remained one of the most successful teams in the WRC, thanks to continuous improvements to models such as the Impreza 555, BugEye, and BlobEye, as well as collaborations with top drivers like McRae, Burns, and Solberg.
