In this final video in the wound healing and wound care series I'm going to go through the various types of wound closure. I'm going to take you through various options depending on the clinical situation.
In that clean or clean contaminated case without significant delay and no tension you ,may consider primary closure. Here you may use staples, sutures, steristrips or derma bond...we're going to talk about it.
In that contaminated or dirty case or if you have a delay in wound closure of 4-12h for limbs or up to 24h for the face you may consider healing by secondary intention.
In that exlap for a perforated viscus with fecalent or purulent contamination you may consider delayed primary closure to decrease your risk of surgical site infection.
