Monica finds out about Susan's pregnancy

From July 1981. Monica is heading to Houston for a seminar. She asks Kathy to keep her eyes and ears open at the disco and at the house - she thinks Alan is in on Susan's departure. Monica meets with Corrigan. He wants to apply for the manager position at the disco to get closer to Alan.

Alan confronts Edward after the Webbers have demanded information concerning Laura's whereabouts. Edward reminds Alan that he is far from the bastion of truth and to mind his own business.

At the disco, Amy is itching to spread her gossip about Susan. When Kathy and Corrigan hear the news about Susan being pregnant, they bolt for the phone. Corrigan breaks the news to Monica.

It's easy to remember the humorous moments in the Susan Moore storyline, but this clip is a fine example of the dramatic tension that was played so beautifully. The scene with Alan and Edward is one example (here's some of Edward's disdain of Alan's chosen career that they reference so much in later years). And the look on Monica's face when she hears the news is heartbreaking; I think it's this moment when she decides maybe she really does want Alan after all.
