In this video, I'm trying to figure out how to frame the gothic arch dormer. It's not just compound miters but also curves. So, not easy but do-able.

The main benefits of the gothic arch are that it allows for greater height by efficiently directing weight downward, and it makes thinner walls and larger windows possible by reducing lateral thrust. This enabled architects to create more slender structures with expansive stained glass, leading to the characteristic verticality, lightness, and soaring interiors of Gothic cathedrals.
Structural advantages
Efficient weight distribution: The pointed arch directs the roof's weight more directly down to the supporting piers, reducing the outward (lateral) thrust compared to a rounded arch.
Greater height: With less lateral force pushing outwards, walls no longer needed to be as thick and massive to support the roof's weight. This allowed for unprecedented height, symbolizing a connection to the divine.
Reduced lateral thrust: The reduced outward force meant that the heavy, load-bearing walls of earlier Romanesque architecture could be replaced with lighter structures.
Enabled flying buttresses: The outward thrust that remained was more easily managed by external supports like flying buttresses, which transferred the force to external piers.
Aesthetic and functional advantages
Larger windows: By reducing the load-bearing function of walls, architects could create large openings in them.
Stained glass: These large openings were then filled with stained glass, creating colorful and light-filled interiors that told religious stories and were meant to evoke a heavenly atmosphere.
Sense of verticality: The pointed arch and the increased height create a strong sense of verticality, drawing the eye upward and enhancing the spiritual and awe-inspiring nature of the space.
Illusion of space: The upward-sweeping lines of the arch can make interiors feel larger and more spacious.
