East Lancashire Railway
Autumn Steam Gala 2025
Friday 17th to Sunday 19th October 2025
A London Midland & Scottish Railway affair on the East Lancashire Railway for their annual steam gala weekend. Visiting locomotives came in the form of LMS Stanier 2-6-0 Mogul 13268 (from the Severn Valley Railway / Stanier Mogul Fund), LMS 2MT 46441 (from the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway and Beet Family) and Furness Railway Number 20 (Furness Railway Trust.
The weekend started with an early morning photographic charter at Burrs Country Park with LMS Jinty 47298, recently repainted into its original LMS number of 7138 for the first time in preservation and paired with a train of recently repainted LMS wagons.
An intensive three day timetable saw plenty of variety. Friday saw Ramsbottom as centre of shunting activities with Pug 11243 on shunting duties, joined by MSC 32 (Gothenburg) between its passenger turns. MSC 32 was repainted into MSC grey livery for the first time in preservation and spent Saturday and Sunday at Rawtenstall on FXP duties in the bay platform (we see the locos light engine runs to Rawtenstall in the video).
Andrew Barclay 1969 JN Derbyshire was in operation on Friday and Sunday and we capture the locomotive paired in a Beet Family loco reunion with 2MT 46441 (also a Ribble Steam Railway reunion, with 4 of the 5 vehicles in the train having spent much of the past couple of decades at Preston).
Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway A Class 1300 / 12322 / 52322 spent the weekend in LMS livery, as sister locomotive 12345, joining fellow L&Y locomotives 11456 and 11243.
British Railway Standard 4MT 80097 has recently returned to traffic and is captured in partnership with Ivatt 2MT 46441 and on an early morning parcels train at Duckworth Hall crossing.
