🎵 The History Behind the Celebration:
The Kaapse Klopse tradition emerged from Cape Town's emancipation celebrations, where formerly enslaved people expressed their newfound freedom through music, dance, and elaborate costumes. Today, it stands as one of Africa's most significant annual cultural events.
The first troupe officially opens the Road March at the corner of Ebenezer and Somerset Road each year, setting the tone for a day steeped in heritage, pride, and celebration that draws locals and international visitors alike.
