Our Zodiac cruise at Hill Bay, along the eastern shore of Anvers Island, was one of the most thrilling experiences of our Antarctica journey with Atlas World Voyager. Known for its towering glacier walls, deep still waters, and dramatic ice cliffs, Hill Bay is a wildlife-rich inlet often visited by Antarctic terns, kelp gulls, Weddell seals, and crabeater seals.
Today we finally felt the true spirit of Antarctica — heavy snowfall, strong winds, and icy air — making the entire Zodiac ride feel raw and adventurous.
Despite the weather, we had incredible wildlife encounters:
A Weddell seal sleeping peacefully on the snow, not moving even an inch.
A whale sighting in the distance — always magical to witness.
And the highlight — penguins swimming through the icy waters like tiny torpedoes!
Watching penguins glide so fast through the freezing ocean was a beautiful and unforgettable moment.
