Episode 9 Summary:
In Episode 9, Yuji Itadori is introduced to the stoic Grade 1 sorcerer Kento Nanami to investigate a series of gruesome deaths at a movie theater. They discover the culprit is Mahito, a powerful cursed spirit born from human hatred who possesses the ability to transfigure human souls into monstrous forms. While Yuji and Nanami track the "residue" of the curse, Mahito begins manipulating Junpei Yoshino, a bullied high school student who witnessed the murders. The episode concludes with the disturbing realization that the monsters Yuji is fighting were once human, forcing him to confront the grim reality of being a sorcerer as Nanami teaches him the importance of efficiency and emotional detachment in their line of work.
