Island Books

This local independent bookstore opened in 1975 and it’s still locally owned and operated. You’ll find a well curated selection of books, cards, gifts, toys, and locally-made chocolates. Island Books prides itself on being a community gathering space. You’ll find their schedule filled with author events and book club gatherings.

L’Experience Paris
Address: 3020 78th Ave SE, Mercer Island, WA 98040

L’Experience Paris is a French concept store just a few doors down from Island Books. You’ll find delicious croissants, a full brunch/breakfast menu, and you can even grab a glass of wine and dinner here too.

Metropolitan Market Mercer Island
Address: 2755 77th Ave SE, Mercer Island, WA 98040

If you grew up in the area, you’re probably familiar with Met Market. This independent grocer has been around since 1971. The Mercer Island Met Market has an incredible deli/hot food area. My friend Jenny suggested we get a giant chocolate chip cookie.

La Fete Patisserie

If you’re looking for a traditional french patisserie, swing by La Fete Patisserie. You’ll find delicious pastries like matcha mascarpone cream croissants and chocolate hazelnut croissants.

Sano Cafe

Whether you’re in the mood for an acai bowl or a breakfast bowl, Sano Cafe has something for you. This Mercer Island cafe offers unique juices, tasty salads, and toasts.
