In 2014, Erin had just planted her Olive trees and she contacted me to offer my gardening consultation services in helping her grow her olive trees properly. That took us on a 3 year, Olive Farming Journey, together, as we saw her Olive trees (Koroneiki, Arbasana, Arbequina, Kalamata, and a few others) grow, develop, and were ready for processing for oil. Olives grow best in a Mediterranean climate. Below are the 4 major olive producing areas in the world and the varieties in each place. You can also find Olives in Africa (Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, etc). In the USA, California is the largest producer of olives in other States such as Georgia, Texas etc.
Italian Olives- Frantoio, Coratina*, Pendalino, Leccino, Paggiasca, Ascolano , Barouni
French Olives- Nicosia, Picholine
Greek Olives- Kalamata, Koroneiki, Amphissis
Spain Olives - Manzanillo , Arbequina, Picual*
