The Institute of Railway Research, together with the University of Bristol and Wabtec/Brecknell Willis, are supporting the development of next generation pantographs, using innovative inerter technology. The enhanced performance will allow trains to run at larger speeds across existing overhead systems and reduce the costs of electrification.
