In this video tutorial, I demonstrate the step-by-step process of installing a reverse camera on a VW Passat B5+ estate. I start by removing the protective plastic cover and drilling an appropriate hole for the camera. After drilling through the protective plastic and exposing the bare metal, I proceed with the installation.
While the paint is drying, I run the cables from the camera to the interior of the trunk, specifically to the left tail light. The cable with the yellow connector connects to the multimedia system — this is the video cable. The red wire is connected to the reverse light to power the camera when reversing.
Once the video cable reaches the multimedia system, I connect the red wire to the pink wire on the multimedia, which supplies power when reversing. After completing all connections, I perform a test to ensure everything is working correctly. If all functions properly, I reassemble everything, and the installation is complete.
