In this video, we are removing the clutch fan from a Ford 4.6L V8. This type of cooling fan is on most pickup trucks from before about 2010, whereas most modern trucks use electric fans. The truck that this fan was on was a 1998 F150. I am converting from the clutch fan to dual electric fans from a 2012 Ford Explorer to free up some horsepower. A clutch fan can take upwards of 20 horsepower to spin at high rpm. The dual electric fans pull about 40 Amps which works out to about 0.64 horsepower, or maybe a little over 1 hp of drag on the alternator since it is not perfectly efficient.
