This birth was perfect and everything went exactly how you always hope. 🙏 LaDee gets some pretty strong postpartum contractions, so I had the banamine ready to go.

You can see that when she stood up right after the filly was born it ripped the umbilical cord. This is normal, but a slight cause for concern because the placenta was still completely inside.
.
After a call to the vet, he recommended we tie a full water bottle to the end to create natural weight (never pull this!). After about 30 minutes, the placenta came out and every part was there.

Seeing as this is LaDee's last baby, we are so thrilled it's a little filly. 🥹

Horses are amazing for their strength, stamina, and complete belief in themselves. They get up, they get water, food, reposition themselves, whatever they need to help their bodies accomplish this great task.

It truly is a joy and a privilege watching new life come into this world!
