Tom Manke demonstrating how a breathalyzer can fail sending a person to jail that has little to no alcohol in their system. It is recommended that one does not pop breath mints or use mouthwash if pulled over and a person is going to be given a breathalyzer test. I showed in this demonstration that I was blowing way under the limit at around a point 03 but once I ate the mints I zoomed up to a point 19. Super Drunk. Even though I only had a .03 in my system. How many people are being charged with drunk driving by failing a breathalyzer test when the tests can be so inaccurate. According to the scientific studies that I read the only test that is reliable is a blood test. I have never heard of a Michigan State Police Trooper ever asking a person whether they ate breath mints or used mouthwash.
