At the beginning of this year, I was jobless and feeling hopeless. For years, I had carried one dream with me, to see the city that floats on water. Venice was always on my list, but it always felt out of reach. With the little savings I had left, I made a decision. I would spend every last penny and risk it all to visit the city of my childhood imagination. Some dreams are worth the risk.

The journey took fourteen hours on buses and trains before I finally stepped onto the streets of Venice, Italy. Storm clouds and thunder warnings were waiting. I prayed for a break, and the skies cleared. What opened in front of me was a city that looked like cinema itself.

I crossed the Grand Canal, stood on the Rialto Bridge, wandered into the hidden corners of the Libreria Acqua Alta, and stood in the crowds at Piazza San Marco staring at the golden glow of St. Mark’s Basilica. I watched the water shimmer beneath the Bridge of Sighs, felt goosebumps at Santa Maria della Salute, and found myself at peace among gondolas rocking gently in the rain.

This is not a checklist or a guide. It is a cinematic solo travel story of Venice, a tale of risk, struggle, beauty, and reward.
