This winter, we are sharing some Traditional Tales with our students - the Gingerbread Man, Goldilocks & the Three Bears, and more! We'll get in the winter holiday spirit with jingling bells, snow imagery, hot chocolate, candy and cookies, and forest animals.
Some of the songs are included as alternates, not intended to be used back-to-back (i.e. "I've got So Much to Give" OR "Light a Candle, Blow it Out"). My in-person lessons are usually 20-25 minutes. This lesson sequence was originally intended for early childhood and K-2 music groups and was designed to meet the abilities and needs of the community I serve. In my current role, I serve as a music therapy consultant; creating songs, lessons, and resources for my teachers to use with their own groups in the month between modeled lessons. I am a member of the Music for Kiddos Community with Stephanie Leavell and my students and I LOVE her songs; I highly recommend becoming a community member to access hundreds of amazing resources she has created for music educators and music therapists. I have included multiple of her songs in this lesson sequence:
Greeting: "Jingle Jingle, Hello" - Original
Song Story: "Three Bears Rap" - traditional, as recorded by Lindsay Muller
Movement & SEL Song: "Grizzly Bear Grump"- by Stephanie Leavell
Instrument Song (Lollipop Drums): "Marching Through the Gumdrop Forest"- by Stephanie Leavell
Prop Song (Bean Bags): "Catch Me If You Can" - by Stephanie Leavell
Sitting Movement / Fingerplay: "Hot Chocolate" - by Stephanie Leavell
OR "Nice Warm Sweater" - by Stephanie Leavell
Closing: "I've Got So Much to Give" - by Laurie Berkner
OR "Light a Candle, Blow it Out" - by Stephanie Leavell
Songs Recorded by Melissa Gillespie, MME, MT-BC
I do not own the rights to the songs in this video. They are intended for educational purposes only, for use by teachers, families, and students in early childhood, special education, and beyond. Thank you for listening!
