東京都台東区谷中の散策。谷中銀座まで日暮里駅や千駄木駅から徒歩約5分。
谷中地区は、上野台地から東側の平地にかけての一帯のエリア。台地上には江戸時代に寺町が形成され、旧藍染川が通る平地には、近代以降に谷中銀座やよみせ通りの商店街が形成された。地形の中にまちがあるため、夕焼けだんだんや三崎坂などの坂道からの景色が美しい。
震災や戦災での大きな被害を免れたため、かつての地割や建物が残っている。近年では古い建物や町並みを保存、活用する動きが高まっており、歴史文化を生かしたまちづくりが進められている。
A walk in Yanaka, Taito-ku, Tokyo. It takes about 5 minutes on foot from Nippori or Sendagi station to Yanaka Ginza.
The Yanaka district is an area extending from the Ueno Plateau to the flatlands to the east. On the plateau, a temple town was formed in the Edo period, and on the flat land where the old Aizome River runs, Yanaka Ginza and Yomise Street were formed in the modern era. Because the town is located in the topography, the views from the slopes such as Yuyake Dandan (Sunset Steps) and Sansakizaka are beautiful.
Since the area was spared from major damage from earthquakes and war, the old lot layouts and buildings remain. In recent years, there has been a growing trend to preserve and utilize old buildings and townscapes. Historical and cultural town management is being promoted.
