We had the lovely opportunity to witness a Traditional Coorgi Wedding. Southern Indian state of Karnataka. In addition, rich soil and a very proud people. Coorg stands draped in the mountain mist much like a Demure Bride. The Coorgi Wedding, also unique from other Indian Weddings in many ways.

No priest presiding over the ceremony. Perhaps it’s the only Hindu Wedding Ceremony where , no Pooja and Meat relished – Coorgi Wedding Video.

Nivya & Anuj tied the knot at a Traditional Kodava (Coorgi) Marriage Ceremony. On Sunday 14th Dec 2014 at Coorg. The Groom wore the Traditional Coorgi attire and White kurtha. And a Maroon and gold sash serves as a belt . It also completes the outfit.

The White brocade turban imparts a majestic look. The Groom also carried a silver dagger and a sword while the Bride wore a silk sari with dots draped in the signature Coorgi style, Especially relevant. A scarf completes this garment .

The Groom and his entourage of family and friends made their way to the Mandap. Accompanied by a girl with beautifully crafted basket balanced over her head also. All are welcomed by beautifully dressed flower girls. The air , thick with the smell. Due to the freshness, Jasmine garlands also.
We , excited to watch the ritual of ‘Cutting of Banana Shoots’. It’s a symbolic gesture as a mark of respect to the maternal sides of both families.
After the honor of cutting the banana plant stems, an elder guides the families through some rituals. And then proceeded to bless the Bride and Groom with the Hindu Tradition of sprinkling of rice over their heads.
Therefore pageantry of the processions stays in the mind long after the wedding over. The Mehendi, The Food, The Drink, the Dancing and the Innumerable rituals steeped in traditions. So, it kept alive through the ages, handed down from one generation to the next also.
Hence, Congratulations to the very special pair. Therefore, May you always find in each other the Love. And also laughter and Happiness that only partners in life share!
