Courtallam, often called the Spa of South India, is a famous hill town and waterfall destination located in Tenkasi district of Tamil Nadu. It sits at the foothills of the Western Ghats, where the Chittar River descends through rocky slopes to form a series of beautiful waterfalls. Traveling from Kollam to Tenkasi by road is a scenic and comfortable journey that takes around 3 to 3.5 hours depending on traffic and weather conditions. The most common route goes through Kottarakkara, Thenmala, and Shenkottai, following the Kollam–Shenkottai Road. This stretch passes through dense forests, small hills, and beautiful viewpoints, especially near Thenmala and Aryankavu. The roads are generally good, and the climb through the Aryankavu ghat section offers refreshing greenery and cool air. After crossing the Kerala–Tamil Nadu border at Aryankavu, you descend towards Shenkottai and reach Tenkasi very quickly. The journey is peaceful and enjoyable, making it one of the most scenic road routes connecting Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
