After five years of retirement, Smart Chic Olena had shoes put on and got saddled for one more ride. He rode like an old soldier. His NRHA milestone and award ceremony was a memorable night for many. Chic impacted the industry in ways that are reserved for a rare few that will last forever in blood. He made his mark in two different arenas as a world champion in cutting and reining, a feat likely to never be duplicated. For me, he hammered out a shield of accord. On that night, and for one remarkable year, I had the best seat in the house.
