Was This REALLY 2020s Best Book? | "The Vanishing Half" Discussion | Colorism In The Black Community

I hope your day is well. Today, I will be discussing 2020's book of the year, "The Vanishing Half" by Brit Bennett. I recently picked up this book after having it in my arsenal for a few months, and I'm so happy I did. I'm really enjoying it so far. The story follows the lives of two identical twin sisters who grew up together in a small southern Black community. The sisters ran away at the age of 16 and took on two different identities, Black and White. "The Vanishing Half" highlights the lasting influence of the past as it shapes a persons' decisions, desires, and expectation, and explores some of the multiple reasons and realms in which people sometimes feel pulled to live as something other than their origins.
