To prepare a bee frame for foundation support, start by drilling evenly spaced holes in the side bars of the wooden frame. Typically, 4–5 holes are made horizontally, depending on the frame size. Use a small drill bit (about 1.5–2 mm) to create clean holes without splitting the wood. Once the holes are drilled, thread stainless steel or galvanized wire through them in a zigzag or straight pattern, pulling the wire tightly to provide strong support for the wax foundation. Secure the wire ends by twisting them around small nails or staples at the sides of the frame, and use a wire tightener or pliers to ensure the wire is firm and tensioned. This setup helps keep the foundation straight and stable, especially during extraction.
