My Silver SR 8800L Radio Recorder Out To Play! - 29 Novembre 2025 (3)

This evening, the mighty Silver SR-8800 portable radio recorder came out to play!

This huge beast is my most treasured possession as far as boomboxes go!
It's a huge monster of a stereo & has been completely restored & repaired by me!

Notoriously difficult to extract the soft touch cassette mechanism without damaging the tuning cord, not mention the banks of selection switches.......I finally triumphed after mreading up this russian guys webside! 😀 He detailed how he went about getting it out successfully! So using Gurgle translate I finally got the gist of how to remove the deck for service & rebelt!

Finished some 7 years ago, it is still my most wanted & desired radio cassette!

This enormous 4 brand radio getting blaster is built to a high standard & has the aforementioned soft touch deck, Dolby B noise reduction, medtal tape ready & a second slot in play only cassette player enabling copying
cassettes!

It also boasts Line in & Phono in too! 🙂 Not common at the time & a half decent second player it is too! It takes ten battiers but is already VERY heavy, so with an added ten D cells, it would be hard for me to even lift it off the floor!

I thought it was time to wheel her out & play some decent chrome cassette recordings!

I paid just £25 for this - Broken & dead but in stunning condition & crying out to be restored! 😁
