Learn to make 10 beautiful, realistic, rolled paper flowers using my free SVG template and step-by-step video tutorial.
This is part 2 of paper flower videos. Watch part 1 here: • How to make Rolled Paper Flowers with Cric...
Also, throughout the video, I give tips on making the flowers as realistic as possible, so, make sure to watch the entire video.
The free SVG is in my password-protected, high-quality resource library, and I share the password exclusively with my email subscribers.
How to get the free Rolled Paper Flower SVG template:
1) If you already have the password to my resource library, visit https://www.memokraft.com/memokraft-r... and enter the password. This will get you inside the library.
I mention the password at the bottom of all my emails. If you don't get my emails yet, visit https://www.memokraft.com/resource-li... and request the password before proceeding with the next steps.
2) Once inside the library, look for template number 28. I have put the thumbnails from youtube videos alongside all the templates to make them easier to recognize.
3) Click the button corresponding to the desired template. A google drive page would open.
4) There would be a download button at the top of the page. Click it to download the file.
(Please note that if, for some reason, you are not able to download the files, open the free resource library in incognito mode of Google Chrome or the corresponding mode of any other browser you use. Also, if you are using iPhone, please use Safari as Chrome does not give the option to download SVG on iPhone.)
So, first of all - which paper to use? Make sure to use normal cardstock, which is neither too thin nor too thick. We need to roll the flowers, so, if the paper is too thin, it might get torn, and, if it's too thick, it won't roll properly.
Also, use bright-coloured papers which have a solid colour on both sides for realistic-looking flowers. Also, avoid colours you won't normally associate with flowers, such as green, because green is generally the colour of leaves, not of flowers.
Please scroll further down for the link to the papers used in the video. Note that I have used papers with a white core, just because I like my flowers that way, but you can also choose to have cardstocks with a coloured core. It's your own creative choice, and there is really no right or wrong answer here.
So, once you have chosen the papers and downloaded the free templates, follow the steps shown in the video to upload the SVG into Cricut Design Space and prepare it for cutting.
Now, let's start shaping the flowers. You would need tweezers or something similar to roll the flowers.
To make the flowers look realistic, fold the first 2-3 petals inwards at 3 places, then the next 2-3 petals at 2 places, and the next 2-3 petals at the center, as shown in the video. As you will see later, this would be the central portion of the flower, which is usually curved inwards.
Then, curve all the remaining petals outwards, as shown. Start with gently curving outwards and then, as you move towards the end, make it with more and more pressure, so that the outermost petals are more curved than the inside petals. These will be the outer petals of the flower, and would make the flower look fully bloomed.
Now, hold the first petal with the tweezer and start rolling the flower as shown. As you can see, the flower is getting into shape.
Now, let go of the flower slightly so that it expands a little and appears fully bloomed. Then, use a glue which dries instantly. This is important because if the glue doesn't dry instantly, the rolled flower will keep expanding and lose its shape. I have used a hot glue gun, you can also use Tacky glue. Be very careful and don't burn yourself.
And see, your realistic-looking flower is ready.
So, we have 10 beautiful and realistic paper flowers ready.
