In this video, I talk about how you can get a tech job in Canada with no prior experience. Although some of my content is Canada-specific, you can apply some aspects to most tech jobs in other countries as well;

Getting a tech job with no experience can be very challenging especially if you want to get into tech or IT field or want to start a tech career. I talk about tips on how you can get tech jobs and start your tech career even if you don't have any experience in tech or IT field

Mainly, if you want a tech job, my biggest suggestion is to NOT take any IT courses or certifications that you need to pay for; there is so much free content out there that there is just no need for you to pay to become a developer or start your career; what you really need is personal projects and the ability to showcase them and sell yourself if you want to get a job in tech with no experience, especially in Canada;

Firstly, if you are a student, go to a lot of hackathons; In the video, I explain how hackathons can jump-start your tech career especially if you have no experience in tech; Hackathon is an event where lots of tech and IT enthusiasts and developer students come and code over the weekend. There are even big companies who send their recruiters there to talk to students and there are many workshops too that you can learn from. Do checkout the links I include and I will make more videos on hackathons;

If you are not a student and already graduated, and you are looking to switch into a tech career or get a tech job in IT in Canada, perhaps coming from a non-tech background, then you can work on projects and do project-based learning instead of course based; I also include links for those above.

I also talk about other aspects like optimizing your resume and how to build the best resume to get the IT tech job in programming or development or any IT field that you want.
Let me break it down for you real quick:
➡️ Optimize your resume for ATS. Don't use complex formats like MS Word that are hard to parse
➡️ Use Keywords. Using keywords that match your targeted roles will increase your chance of getting that tech job role
➡️ Keep your resume simple and easy to read. Don't add complex words or structures or too small font size. In his book, Thinking Fast and Slow, Daniel Kahneman talks about the concept of cognitive ease; which I suggest you to use to your advantage by keeping your resume easy to read, recruiters will be more likely to perceive your candidacy in a positive way.

Some other aspects of your non-technical background, IT job hunt, I talk about the importance of networking and sending cold emails. Cold emails can really level up your job hunt; Don't be embarrassed or afraid to reach out to people. I also include links to resources that can help you get the emails of recruited off of LinkedIn.
