Worship of Lord Raghunath (Lord Rama):
Kullu Dussehra centers around the worship of Lord Raghunath, the presiding deity of the Kullu valley. It is believed that in the 17th century, Raja Jagat Singh of Kullu brought an idol of Lord Raghunath from Ayodhya to establish it as the main deity of the region. He declared Lord Raghunath as the king of Kullu, and ever since, the festival has been celebrated to honor him.

Devotional Procession of Local Deities:
During Kullu Dussehra, over 300 local deities from nearby villages are brought in beautifully decorated palanquins to the Dhalpur Maidan to pay homage to Lord Raghunath. This reflects the unique culture and beliefs of the Kullu valley, where the local gods are considered protectors of their villages.

No Effigy Burning:
Unlike the rest of India, Kullu Dussehra does not involve the burning of Ravana's effigy. Instead, the festival focuses on the victory of good over evil through the worship of Lord Raghunath.

Seven-Day Grand Celebration:
The festival begins on Vijayadashami and continues for seven days. The final procession, known as the "Rath Yatra," involves pulling the chariot of Lord Raghunath through the streets. This symbolizes the unity of the region's people and deities.

Cultural and Regional Importance
Kullu Dussehra also celebrates the harvest season and serves as a platform for cultural exchange. Folk dances, music, fairs, and exhibitions are integral parts of the festivities, attracting tourists and devotees from across the globe.

Thus, Kullu Dussehra is a celebration of faith, tradition, and cultural unity, deeply intertwined with the spiritual and historical legacy of the Kullu valley.
