In this video, we will introduce the 4 classes of macromolecules. We will also discuss how monomers will form polymers through condensation and how polymers break down through hydrolysis. Carbon is the backbone in organic molecules and each carbon can make 4 bonds with other atoms. There are also other elements such as oxygen and nitrogen in macromolecules. In the end, we briefly introduced functional groups. They are groups of atoms that give molecules a particular property.
