Our drive from Custer, South Dakota to Wind Cave National Park was a beautiful 25-mile escape through the scenic Black Hills. Winding south from Custer on Highway 16A, we were surrounded by dense pine forests and rocky outcroppings. As we continued on scenic Highway 87, the road gradually opens, revealing rolling prairie and distant horizons. Occasional pull-offs offer panoramic views of the forested hills. This tranquil drive blends woodland charm with expansive grassland vistas.
