Healthcare simulation offers diverse applications: clinical skills practice, team training, and systems testing. Modalities are equally diverse: manikins, simulated patient actors, tabletop exercises and screen based simulation. Increasingly simulation are conducted 'in situ' - in practitioners own clinical environment
In this session Professor Victoria Brazil, Professor of Emergency Medicine and Medical Director of the Simulation Service at the Gold Coast Health Service and lead of the Bond University Translational Simulation Collaborative, shares a 'state of the art' snapshot of healthcare simulation in 2025, and takes a deep dive into how simulation can serve as a test bed for exploring our teams and systems performance. This includes exploring the interaction of healthcare professionals and their physical and digital environments, and testing planned improvements
