A sung Mimro about St. Jacoub of Serugh.
St. Jacob of Serugh (also known as Jacob the Sarugian, c. 451-521 AD) was one of the most important Syrian Church Fathers and poets of late antiquity. He was born in Kurtam in the Serugh region (now in Turkey) and served as a priest and later as bishop of Batnan. Jacob is best known for his numerous metres, poetic sermons in verse form, which deal with theological themes, biblical stories and the lives of saints. He is considered one of the great teachers of the Syrian Orthodox Church and is often called the "Flute of the Holy Spirit" because of his deep spirituality and poetic expressiveness. His writings had a lasting influence on Syrian theology and liturgy.
